The BBC has an interesting article with quotes from Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, something I found startling was the photos of the stars during the first film and Goblet of Fire, their fourth.
The stars confirm that they’re signed up for film 5 (Order of the Phoenix) but that their appearances in the final two films are by no means set in stone (I suspect that’ll come down to how much money they want rather than the trio not wanting to appear or the studio turning them away).
Goblet of Fire has been granted a 12A in the UK, rather than the PG rating the other films garndered. This is due to darker content and themes (there is a significant death in GoF) and the film is described by Emma Watson as “…much more of a thriller.”
This is bound to affect its profitability, especially as so many younger kids make up the film’s main audience, but as Hollywood makes most of its money from DVDs and TV screenings, which will remain unaffected I suspect, it’s unlikely Warner Bros., the studio behind the Harry Potter films, will be too concerned.
The article also confirms that producers are in talks with Imelda Staunton to take on the role of Professor Umbridge in the next film.
