Some of the stars of Harry Potter got to tour the new Wizarding World Of Harry Potter in Florida ahead of the grand opening on June the 18th. You can see a short video of the experience here.
It looks like they’ve done a great job, but then you look at the price: an adult day ticket to all of the park is £50! Now I haven’t been to a Florida theme park in a while, but that seems a bit steep. The child prices are only slightly lower by all accounts (child being anyone aged 3-9, their definition seems to differ from most other people’s). Maybe this is the official price knowing full well that they’ll be doing lots of special deals, I hope so (I assume it’ll be covered by their multi-day passes). Mind you, even the price of food looks high; with £34 for a patter for four and £5.50 for a Cornish pasty.
OK, so it’s taken three years and £134 million (or £125m depending what you read) to build, and they have to pay £10 million a year to Rowling for licencing (I assume that’s on principle, it’s not like she needs the money) but £200 for a family of four is very steep for a day’s entertainment.
For the stars it must have been a bit odd as they’ve walked the actual sets. Must have been interesting for some of the cast to meet the people who will play them (Robbie Coltrane meets someone who I assume is Hargid).
