The BBC has some interesting features on Harry Potter due to the impending release of Goblet of Fire.

The first one has some quotes from some of the actors who are new to the HP fold: Robert Pattinson, Katie Leung and Stansilav Ianevski who play Cedric Diggory, Cho Chang and Victor Krum, respectively. Neither Leung or Ianevski had previous acting experience but both say it was a dream come true. Pattinson says how the costume designer obviously told the assistant director he needed some fitness training, describing him as a ‘sissy poet’ during the fitting. Ianevski also states that he longs to follow in Keanu Reeves footsteps (an interesting role model and it shows he doesn’t lack arrogance, more likely he’ll disappear completely though).

The second article is about how the ‘fright factor’ has been turned up in the fourth film. When you think about it, the sort of challenges they endure aren’t to be found in the adult human world, so Rowling was pushing the boat out a bit when she brought in a competition where previous contestants have died for school children. This one really does go beyond the others by some way. All in all it’s a positive article about the film.

The third article concerns the mixed reviews that Goblet of Fire has been receiving. Although the article mentions mixed reactions in the title, reading the reviews shows them to be generally positive. I’ve not doubt they’ll be some negative reviews, and some people out with an agenda, but most of the reaction is good so far. We’ll have to wait and see what we think after the hype, the initial release and enough time has passed for us all to gather out wits (I enjoyed most of the Star Wars prequels first time round, but they were awful on subsequent viewings).

On another note, I was at an art house cinema yesterday and they had an alternative trailer with a classical music soundtrack that was much better than the standard one, no idea where to get hold of a copy though.
